At 3 pm on February 18, March 3, and March 17, 2016, theatre goers now have additional opportunities to "treat [themselves] to some unapologetic laughs served up by people who care about their craft," as Detroit Theatre Examiner Patty Nolan praises.
"The Odd Couple" is the classic tale of two suddenly single pals - a sloppy sportswriter and a neat freak news writer - who strain their friendship by turning roommates, but patterns of their own disastrous marriages begin to reappear with hilarious results.
Martin F. Kohn of encoremichigan.com promises, "humor abounds". And Hugh Gallagher of Ann Arbor District Library's Pulp observes, "These are characters we all know so well from stage, movie and a hit TV series, but the Purple Rose gives them bright new life".
The "highly polished production" (Jenn McKee, Ann Arbor Arts District) runs now through Saturday, March 26, 2016. Ticket prices range from $19 to $43.
Underwriting support for the season comes from the Ford Motor Company Fund, The Hamp Family Fund, the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, the Sage Foundation, The Shubert Foundation, and the Matilda R. Wilson Fund. "The Odd Couple" production sponsor is the Neil & Annmarie Hawkins Family. Media sponsors include Michigan Radio, ChelseaMich.com, Detroit Performs, and Applied Storytelling.
All performances will be held at The Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park Street, Chelsea, Michigan 48118.
