BoxFest Detroit is an organization that showcases and creates opportunities for women directors. Annually, in August, BFD produces a theater festival at Planet Ant, and the winning director, based on audience vote, is awarded the opportunity to direct a one act play within the subsequent Planet Ant season. "Planet Ant is very proud to host the BoxFest festival, and we are pleased to provide a venue to further hone her directing skills," stated Planet Ant Artistic Director Shawn Handlon. "This kind of support for the development of local talent is what the Planet Ant community is all about."
