Mr. Goldstein, who will be making his Detroit recital debut, is known for his creative approach to programming, and this unique program titled "Orchestral Music @ the Piano," includes music by Bach, Schubert, Debussy, Ligeti and Liszt that was either written for orchestra and later arranged for piano, written for piano and arranged for orchestra, or conceived on a symphonic-like scale.

Alon Goldstein's artistic vision and innovative programming have made him a favorite with audiences and critics alike throughout the United States, Europe, and Israel. He made his orchestral debut at the age of 18 with the Israel Philharmonic under the baton of Zubin Mehta, and has gone on to perform with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra and the Chicago, Toronto, San Francisco, Baltimore, St. Louis, Houston, Vancouver and Kansas City Symphony Orchestras in North America, and the London Philharmonic and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France abroad.
Mr. Goldstein's 2015-2016 season began with a concert tour in China performing Mozart Concerti Nos. 20 and 21 arranged for piano and string quintet. This same program was featured also at the Ravinia festival as well as New York's Town Hall to sold-out houses. Mr. Goldstein's new CD featuring these two concerti together with the Fine Arts Quartet was just released to critical acclaim on the Naxos label. He will be heard in solo recitals and with the Goldstein-Peled-Fiterstein Trio and the Tempest Trio in chamber music concerts worldwide, including the U.S., Europe, China, Israel and South America.
Highlights of recent seasons include the release of Mr. Goldstein's acclaimed Centaur recording of Mendelssohn Concertos Nos. 1 and 2 with the Israel Chamber Orchestra. He appeared in performances across the U.S. with the Tokyo Quartet on their final concert tour, and in critically acclaimed recital and chamber music concerts worldwide. Mr. Goldstein's festival appearances include Millenium Park in Chicago with the Grant Park Symphony, the Gilmore, Santa Fe, Tanglewood, Marlboro, Seattle, and Steamboat festivals in the United States, and the IMS Prussia Cove, Verbier Festival and Klavier Festival in Rühr, Germany abroad.
Israeli-born Alon Goldstein graduated from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore where he studied with Leon Fleisher.
Alon Goldstein will also be appearing on the Chamber Music Society of Detroit's Signature Series season finale the following night, Saturday, May 14 at 8:00 PM, performing the Brahms Piano Quintet in F minor with the Ariel String Quartet.
