Broadway's "little show that could," about two New York actors creating the very show they're performing, will get its Michigan premiere this winter at The Ringwald Theatre courtesy of Who Wants Cake? The charming Jeff Bowen/Hunter Bell musical, [title of show], opens Friday, February 19th and plays for an exclusive four week engagement ending on Monday, March 15th. Showtimes for [title of show] are Friday, Saturday, and Monday nights at 8PM with Sunday matinees at 3PM. Tickets for this production are $10-20 and can be reserved by phone at 248-545-5545, online at www.WhoWantsCakeTheatre.com, or at The Ringwald box office (22742 Woodward Ave, Ferndale, MI 48220) 45 minutes before showtime.

[title of show] is all about making your dreams come true, while understanding the reality of having to work hard to achieve what you want. It is the story of two struggling young writers writing a new musical about two struggling young writers writing a new musical. It is the ultimate post-modern meta-musical that references itself and its emotionally harrowing journey about art, the creation of art, selling out, and fame. It features such songs as "Die Vampire, Die!" "Way Back to Then," and "Nine People's Favorite Thing."

[title of show] started with "Two Nobodies in New York," Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell, who decided to submit something for the 2004 New York Musical Theatre Festival just three weeks before the deadline. They began chronicling their own process and crafted an original story that just happens to be (with some artistic license taken) autobiographical, so they cast themselves in the roles along with their two friends, Susan Blackwell and Heidi Blickenstaff. At the festival the right people took notice and the show traveled to the Vineyard Theatre for an off-Broadway staging in 2006 which garnered OBIE awards for the co-creators, and transferred to Broadway in 2008 for three months where Bell received a Tony nomination for Best Book of a Musical.

Tickets for [title of show] are $20.00 on Friday and Saturday nights at 8PM, $15.00 for Sunday matinees at 3PM and Monday 8PM performances are HALF OFF normal ticket price at $10.00 a ticket. Reservations may be made by phone at 248-545-5545 or online at www.WhoWantsCakeTheatre.com. The box office opens 45 minutes before performances.

Who Wants Cake? opened the doors to their resident home, The Ringwald, in May 2007 with Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy. Quickly, The Ringwald became a mainstay of Detroit's theatre community. Since opening their doors, Who Wants Cake? has been offering up slice after slice of successful shows including Southern Baptist Sissies, Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical, Killer Joe, The Bad Seed, The Book of Liz, Rent, and Evil Dead: The Musical. Who Wants Cake? was named the 2008 and 2009 Best Theatre Group in Channel 4's Vote 4 The Best contest and the 2009 Best Theatrical Troupe by Real Detroit.
