Two Muses Theatre, West Bloomfield's newest non-profit professional theatre is partnering with Common Ground to raise funds for youths, adults and families in crisis. Common Ground representative will speak at the NEXT TO NORMAL Red Carpet Opening Night Event on June 7. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
The Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Next to Normal (music by Tom Kitt, Book and Lyrics by Brian Yorkey) centers on what appears, at first glance, to be a typical American family with two parents and two bright, wise-cracking teens. And yet their lives are anything but normal, because the mother has been battling manic depression for 16 years. Though the show has moments of deep emotion, it's not a "downer" of an evening-there are flashes of humor, surprise elements and an uplifting and hopeful ending. It is recommended for mature audiences, teens and up.
Two Muses Theatre will donate $1 from each ticket purchase to Common Ground. Advance tickets are available for $23 for adults and $18 for students and senior citizens, and can be purchased at www.twomusestheatre.org or by calling 248.850.9919. Tickets are also available at the door for an additional $2. The Two Muses Theatre space inside the West Bloomfield Barnes & Noble, 6800 Orchard Lake Road, West Bloomfield, MI.
