Ferndale's Ringwald Theatre continues its season devoted to The Power of Words with the southeast Michigan premier of reasons to be pretty by Detroit's own Neil LaBute. All performances of reasons to be pretty will be held at The Ringwald Theatre 22742 Woodward Ave, Ferndale MI 48220. Performances begin on Friday, October 11 and play Fridays-Mondays thru Monday, Novermber 4. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast below!
reasons to be pretty was the first of Neil LaBute's plays to be staged on Broadway where it was nominated for a Tony award for Best Play. Following The Shape of Things and Fat Pig, it is the final play in a trilogy devoted to the modern day obsession over physical beauty.
A love story about the impossibility of love, reasons to be pretty introduces us to Greg, who really, truly adores his girlfriend, Steph. Unfortunately, he also thinks she has a few physical imperfections, and when he casually mentions them, all hell breaks loose. Add to the mix Greg's hyper masculine friend Kent and his hot wife Carly and you get a hopelessly romantic drama about the hopelessness of romance.
reasons to be pretty features Joel Mitchell as Greg, Dyan Bailey as Steph, Bryan Lark as Kent, and Christa Coulter as Carly. Joe Bailey directs, stage management by Katy Schoetzow. Dan Morrison is designing the set.
reasons to be pretty opens Friday, October 11th and plays through Monday, November 4th at 8pm on Friday, Saturday and Monday nights with 3pm Sunday matinees. Ticket prices are $20.00 for Friday and Saturday performances, $15 for Sunday shows, and Monday nights are HALF OFF the original ticket price at only $10 a ticket. All students can now receive a $5 discount off normal ticket price on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday performances (available at the box office the day of the show with valid student ID). Tickets can be purchased at www.TheRingwald.com or at the theatre box office. The Ringwald box office opens 45 minutes before performances and tickets can be purchased with cash or Visa/Mastercard.
