"The Open Table Series was a huge success last season," said Sara Dean, company manager. "Whether they loved the plays or not so much, the audiences seemed to really connect with the series and enjoy providing valuable feedback afterward. THE OTHELLO PRINCIPLE is a new adaptation, so this reading will really help in solidifying what goes on the stage in March. It's very exciting."

Othello is the greatest soldier of his age. A general, a leader of men and a fearsome defender of Venice against its enemies. But his success has created enemies, those that consider him an outsider and are driven by ignorance and jealousy to destroy him. This new telling of Shakespeare's tragedy adapted by Alabama Shakespeare Festival's playwright in residence, James Bowen, and the Network's Executive Director, John Manfredi, travels through time as it explores the universal themes of love, pride and prejudice.

The series offers table readings of plays and musicals, both classic and new, in an intimate setting. Each Open Table reading is free to the public and begins at 7:30pm with a talkback following.
