PRTC Announces 2011 Class Schedule

As part of a core mission to provide opportunities for Midwestern artists, The Purple Rose Theatre Company is currently taking registrations for classes during 2011.

Through the Playwright's Intensive, aspiring playwrights of any experience can hone their skills, explore different writing exercises and receive feedback on their work one during one highly focused weekend, November 5-7. Cost for this class is $200.

Actors looking for an intense weekend of training in the practical acting principles can challenge themselves in the Actor Boot Camp, February 18-20. Cost for this class is $200.

Voice and Movement, an essential for all performers, meets Mondays, April 4-May 9. Using relaxation techniques, imagination and mask work, students explore their inner life and outer behavior with the goal of freeing the voice and body to approach their craft with ease and authenticity. Cost for this class is $350.

Summer marks the return of the popular Teen Intensive, July 11-21. Students in eighth to twelfth grade will experience the work of professional actors, including scene study, monologue work and acting for the camera. Cost for this class is $300.

Instructors include artistic director Guy Sanville, resident artist Michelle Mountain, associate artist Stacie Hadgikosti and playwright David MacGregor. Students of all skill and experience levels are welcome.

All students must be 18+ years of age due to liability and course content unless otherwise indicated. All classes are held at the PRTC rehearsal space in the Chelsea Center for the Arts at 400 Congdon, Chelsea, MI 48118.

Registration is available now by calling the PRTC administration office at (734) 433-PRTC (7782); office hours are Mondays through Fridays from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Registrations are accepted on a pre-paid first-come, first-served basis; full payment is required to register.
