Open Book Theatre Company is excited to announce that they will soon have a new home at 1621 West Road, Trenton, MI. Open Book will be converting two former retail spaces (most recently the Feathered Nest and the Eagle's Nest) into a theatre complete with a flexible black box performance space, lobby, dressing room, work area and more!

On Sunday April 17th at 3pm the public is invited to the see the "before" and imagine what the new theatre will look like. There will be a brief tour of the space, architectural renderings to view, a chance to look around and ask questions, and the opportunity to learn how you might be part of this exciting new chapter in Open Book's story.

Open Book Theatre is a not for profit theatre that hires professional artists to bring life's stories to the stage. Founded by Artistic Director Krista Schafer Ewbank, they opened with their first show, Sylvia, in September of 2014. Their first two seasons were performed at Penelope's Venue in Southgate, with a summer show at the new Market Center Park. Their nine productions have earned them audience and critical acclaim, as well as the Wilde Award for Best Lighting Design awarded to Harley Miah for his design for Open Book's production of Red.

"The Wilde Awards consider all the professional theatres in the state of Michigan, and it was quite an honor to be recognized in our first season," said Krista Schafer Ewbank. "Connie Cowper was also nominated for her work in the title role in our production of Kimberly Akimbo. "

Open Book's final show of their second season, the world premiere of Calypso's Corner, will be performed May 6-21 at Penelope's Venue, as planned. Work will continue on the new space through the spring and summer and the third season (yet to be announced) will open in their new home next fall.
