Holidays are always a special time, but especially this year as Midland Center for the Arts welcomes - for the first time ever! - a nationally touring Broadway show: the 2016 premiere of Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical. Hailed by The New York Times as "100 times better than any bedside story," this classic holiday musical will enchant adults and children alike.
Audiences will find their hearts growing a few sizes along with the Grinch's when they experience the magic of the beloved tale on stage, which features the hit songs "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas" (written by Albert Hague and Dr. Seuss), from the original animated television special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is "two sizes too small," decides to steal Christmas away from the loveable Whos.
Midland is the first stop on the show's 2016 tour. Equipment load-in will start on November 11, with technical and dress rehearsals taking place during the week leading up to the four public performances on November 18 and 19, 2016. After the show's Midland run, the semi-trucks will be re-loaded before the production heads down the road to its next stop: New Orleans, Louisiana.Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical features magnificent sets designed by John Lee Beatty and costumes designed by Robert Morgan, inspired by Dr. Seuss' original book, while the music and book by Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason breathe new life into this timeless story.Videos
