Wharton Center's 2014-2015 Season engages all audiences: everyone from the loyal season subscriber to the newer patron looking for hip and innovative works. The MSU Federal Credit Union Broadway at Wharton Center Series includes: ONCE, winner of 8 2012 Tony Awards® including Best Musical. ANNIE, the world's best-loved musical, returns! Directed by original lyricist and director Martin Charnin, this production of Annie will be a brand-new incarnation of the iconic original. PIPPIN, winner of the 2013 Tony Award® for Best Musical Revival is back on Broadway for the first time since it thrilled audiences 40 years ago. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA returns to Wharton Center as part of a brand-new North American tour. KINKY BOOTS, winner of six Tony Awards® including Best Musical, will lift your sprits to new high- heeled heights! Wharton Center's special events include: BLUE MAN GROUP, who are best known for their wildly popular theatrical shows and concerts combining comedy, music, and technology, and I LOVE LUCY® LIVE ON STAGE, a brand-new hit stage show adapted from the most beloved program in television history! Whether young or old, everybody really does love Lucy!
The 2014-2015 Season wouldn't be complete without a lineup of world-renowned performing artists such as the dynamic and vivacious ARTURO SANDOVAL, who is considered the most extraordinary Cuban trumpeter of our time. A few days later, professional dancers from Dancing With the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and international dance champions all compete against each other in DANCING PROS: LIVE. Hosted by Alan Thicke, this is an unforgettable audience-participation show. Speaking of dance...if you love classical ballet, you'll love MOSCOW CITY BALLET: SWAN LAKE. This remarkable ensemble, considered one of Russia's most successful and popular companies, brings to life one of the most famous ballets of all time. Fans of NPR's This American Life will love IRA GLASS: THREE ACTS, TWO DANCER, ONE RADIO HOST, a quirky, multi-media show combining two art forms that have no business being together: dance and radio. Another NPR favorite, celebrated humorist and bestselling author DAVID SEDARIS, returns for an evening of captivating conversation and social satire. 2CELLOS is breaking down boundaries between genres, from classical and film music to pop and rock. These two international YouTube sensations are classically trained, award-winning cellists who present a unique concert...not your typical cello recital!
