"The Game's Afoot" takes audiences to a mystery mansion with Sherlock Holmes. Well, not Holmes, himself. Rather, William Gillette, a 1930s actor best known for portraying Sherlock Holmes. After bringing his castmates to his Connecticut estate for a holiday celebration, the merriment ends abruptly when a guest is stabbed to death. Gillette, determined to save his guests, hilariously decides to channel his most beloved role, Sherlock Holmes, to solve the deadly puzzle.

"The Game's Afoot"-also called "Holmes for the Holidays"-is by Tony Award-winning playwright Ken Ludwig. Ludwig's plays have been performed in more than 30 countries and include titles audiences may find familiar like "Lend Me a Tenor" and "Moon Over Buffalo."

"Ken Ludwig writes such entertaining plays," said Travis W. Walter, MBT artistic director. "MBT audiences have loved them in the past. I know they'll be surprised at the twists and humor "The Game's Afoot" offers. I'm sure they'll love it as much as we do."

The cast of "The Game's Afoot" is lead by Ron Williams (from last season's "White's Lies") as Gillette, Ruth Crawford ("70, Girls, 70" and "Mary Stuart") as Martha Gillette, and Julia Glander ("Mary Stuart" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow") as Inspector Goring. The rest of the cast includes Andrew Huff (as Felix Geisel), MaryJo Cuppone (Madge Geisel), Jordan Whalen (Simon Bright), Cheryl Turski (Daria Chase) and Vanessa Sawson (Agatha Wheeler).

Meadow Brook Theatre Artistic Director, Travis W. Walter, directs "The Game's Afoot" with fight choreography by Jordan Whalen. Terry W. Carpenter is the stage manager with scenic design by Kristen Gribbin, costumes by Liz Goodall, lighting by Reid G. Johnson and sound by Mike Duncan.
