Meadow Brook Theatre has been awarded grants totaling $87,000 from the State of Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs (MCACA) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The grants were awarded through the MCACA peer review process and were among 494 applications to compete for MCACA fiscal year 2015 funding. Grant monies will provide operating and capital support to Meadow Brook Theatre and will make sound and light technology upgrades possible throughout the theatre.
"MCACA offers an irreplaceable support system to arts and cultural organizations throughout the State. Part of Meadow Brook Theatre's mission is to enhance the cultural experience in our community, and MCACA is helping us realize this dream. We are honored to be a grant recipient," said Cheryl Marshall, Managing Director of Meadow Brook Theatre.
MCACA grant awards are required to match funds dollar-for-dollar with private donations. Meadow Brook Theatre has relied on strong community support since opening almost 50 years ago. As a non-profit organization, donations from individuals, corporations and foundations provide resources for actors and artisans, costumes, sets and outreach programs. The Theatre receives support from patrons and community members, as well as the Meadow Brook Theatre Guild, Rochester Junior Woman's Club, the Kresge Foundation, the Erb Family Foundation, the Meadowbrook Woman's Club and others. Meadow Brook Theatre is currently seeking donations to meet the MCACA match.
Meadow Brook Theatre is located on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. For donation information, please call Katy Olsen, Development Director, at 248.370.4991.
