McDaniel College Student Composers in Recital

Under the direction of Richard Lake, student composers Keith Adams, SabrIna Clarke, Josh Vyskocil, and Curtis Wharton will premiere works for guitar, piano, chorus, percussion ensemble and organ.
Monday Night Music
7 p.m. March 2 in McDaniel Lounge
Monday Night Music presents Chamber Music with violinist Nicholas Currie and pianist David Kreider. The program will consist of Ludwig Van Beethoven's Sonata No. 1 for violin and piano Op. 12 and Cesar Franck's Violin Sonata in A major. Currie, a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, is concertmaster of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony, assistant principal second of the Baltimore Opera Orchestra and principal second of Concert Artists of Baltimore. Currie has performed as a soloist with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony, the Londontown Symphony and with Concert Artists of Baltimore; and chamber music with the Mariner String Quartet, the Cueto Quartet, the Melos Ensemble with clarinetist Gervaise de Payer and the Principals of Concert Artists Quartet. Kreider, director of piano studies at McDaniel College and artistic director of Chamber Music on the Hill, was a scholarship student of Konrad Wolff at Peabody, receiving bachelor's and master's degrees in music. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in Vienna, Austria. He received his doctorate from Catholic University and has appeared extensively in recital and chamber music concerts including solo recitals at Carnegie Recital Hall, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Musikverein in Vienna.
Guest Artist Recital by Pianist Marian Hahn

The McDaniel College Department of Music and the Carroll County Music Teachers Association present pianist Marian Hahn in a program that will include works by Franz Schubert (from Four Impromptus, D. 899, No. 3 in G Flat Major: Andante and No. 4 in A Flat minor: Allegretto; and Fantasy in C Major, D. 760, "Wanderer") and Frederic Chopin (Barcarolle in F# Major Op. 60, Mazurka in f# minor Op. 59 No. 3 and Ballade No. 4 in f minor Op. 52). Marian Hahn holds the Singapore Conservatory of Music Chair in Piano at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, where she has been on the piano faculty since 1987. As a liaison with the new Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, she has performed and given master classes in
Singapore,Taiwan, Korea and Thailand and is in frequent demand as a competition juror and for master classes on campuses throughout the U.S. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Oberlin College with a major in Comparative Religion, she received her master's degree in music from the Juilliard School.

"Amadeus"

Funny and intriguing, the stage production of "Amadeus" chronicles composer Antonio Salieri's struggles with the growing genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The play explores the effects of success and failure, the search for spirituality and the mysterious events surrounding Mozart's death. Adapted from Peter Shaffer's gripping tale, "Amadeus" was one of the most acclaimed and popular plays of the 20th century, earning five Tony Awards. The movie adaptation later secured eight Academy Awards.

Charlie Risselada's works are created by pouring cans of latex paint onto three-dimensional surfaces. His creations often depict earth land formations, according to the artist's website, www.pouredpaint.com.
