Matrix Theatre Company presents The Interference by Lynda Radley, running March 22 - April 14. Performances take place on Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM at Matrix Theatre Company, located at 2730 Bagley Avenue in the heart of Mexicantown. Tickets are $22 for adults and $17 for students, seniors, veterans, and active military personnel, and may be purchased in advance or, if available, at the door. Group rates are also available. For further information or to purchase tickets, visit www.matrixtheatre.org or call (313) 967-0599. Content Warning: sexual assault, sexism and misogyny, victim-blaming. Due to the subject matter of this production, it is suggested that youth be at least 15 years of age to attend.

In a culture of amplified voices, internet trolls, "fake news," and media distortion, where student-athletes are hailed as celebrities, everyone has an incentive to bury the truth. When a survivor speaks up, can her truth rise above the noise? The Interference is a story for a world in the midst of a tectonic cultural shift that is shaking our patriarchal society to its core.

The Interference is directed by Kaitlyn Valor Bourque of River Rouge. "I am deeply grateful to Matrix Theatre for their commitment to social justice and championing women in leadership roles in theatre; and honored to be given the opportunity to direct this particular piece at this particular moment in modern history - at a time when our own public institutions are facing accountability on unprecedented levels. Speaking truth to power takes many forms: theatre is, historically, one of the most effective ways to make people pay attention and deepen upon their own, often limited, worldview. I hope that The Interference inspires thought, conversation, and ultimately, action in those who attend," shared Valor Bourque.

The cast includes Krystle Dellihue, Asia Marie Hicks, Devin Rosni, and Kez Settle of Detroit; Shane O'Connor of Hazel Park; Michael Pacholski of Sterling Heights; Danielle Peck of Clawson; and Dan Tice of Ann Arbor.

The final dress rehearsal on Thursday, March 21 is a "Pay What You Can" performance. To help eliminate the barrier between audiences and live theatre, patrons can pay whatever amount they choose to see the preview performance of The Interference. For further information, go to www.matrixtheatre.org or call the box office at 313-967-0599. Doors open at 7:30PM for the 8PM performance.

In its 28th season as a non-profit, community-based theatre, the award-winning Matrix Theatre Company is located in southwest Detroit and uses the transformative power of theatre to change lives, build community, and foster social justice. Go to matrixtheatre.org for further information. Matrix Theatre Company's Mainstage Season is funded in part by Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, The Kresge Foundation, and The Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Foundation.
