The Rationaltheater from Munich, Germany will be touring its production of Lost Wings by Roy Prinzessin to the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance's Studio Theatre at Wayne State University. The production is part of an annual artistic exchange between Munich, Germany and Detroit, Michigan.

An Angel who wishes to break our of his perfect ethereal condition in order to escape his immortality lands on earth. When he lands he meets Nada, a toilet attendant from Mozambique, in a public bathroom. Together, Nada and the angel confront the reality that there are at least two types of people; those in the light and those in The Shadows.

Lost Wings was inspired by Karin Steinberger's article Die Sklavin (eng: The Slave), which was published in June 2015 in the Sueddeutsche Zeitung. The article documents the story of an Ethiopian woman who was sold as a maid to Qatar and experienced unimaginable suffering. Lost Wings is being directed by the current artistic director of the Rationaltheater, filmmaker and producer, Dietmar Hoess.

Lost Wings will celebrate the second annual artistic exchange between Munich, Germany and Detroit, Michigan. In May of 2015, Junior Year in Munich, America's oldest study abroad program in Germany sponsored by WSU, hosted its first-ever international artistic exchange week. The various art forms from Detroit included photography by Leni Sinclair and visual art by Barbara Greene Mann displayed in Galarie Christoph Duerr, as well as poetry readings by Melba Joyce Boyd and musical numbers by M.L. Liebler, Charlie Palazolla and Sadiq Bey performed at the Rationaltheater.
