Audiences are encouraged to laugh out loud in this playful 15-minute interactive performance that follows the journey of a scientist experimenting with digital and analog stimuli. Dr. Tina Burglorgler and her research assistant Quatthew invite their "human test subjects" (audience members) to participate in a series of interactive experiments, developed at the (fictional) Institute for Development of Ideas and Other Thoughts (I.D.I.O.T.).
Technology, In the Flesh was written and devised by Angela Dawe, Aral Gribble, and Lynn Lammers. The creative team drew on their collective backgrounds in improvisation and theatre to create this original performance piece. Angela Dawe is a Lansing-based actor and writer, whose career includes film, television, and stage roles at some of the country's best sketch and improv theaters, including Chicago's The iO Theatre, the Annoyance, and Second City. Aral Gribble (who also acts in the piece) studied theatre at the University of Michigan, and has performed locally at Performance Network, Tipping Point Theatre, Williamston Theatre, as well as film and television roles in Los Angeles. Lynn Lammers is Kickshaw's founder and artistic director, whose directing credits include Kickshaw's debut production, The Electric Baby, and productions at Flint Youth Theatre, Williamston Theatre, Michigan State University's Summer Circle, Tipping Point Theatre, BoarsHead Theatre, Young People's Theatre, Performance Network's Mosh Pit Theatre, and Peppermint Creek Theatre.
The cast features Alysia Kolascz (Ann Arbor) and Aral Gribble (East Lansing), with stage manager Paige Conway (Flint).
