Legendary superstar Kenny Rogers will add warmth to the holidays like only the consummate entertainer can when his highly acclaimed Christmas & Hits Tour, featuring live performances of holiday classics and many of his biggest hits, returns to the Fox Theatre by popular demand for one night only, Friday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The show is part of the Fifth Third Bank Holiday Series.
Having become a tradition over the course of Rogers' storied career, the tour is now in its 28th year, making it one of the longest running and most popular Christmas tours in history.
Always a highly anticipated treat for the whole family, the production will feature performances of heartwarming traditional and original holiday songs from Rogers - many that can be found on his numerous holiday recordings - such as "Silent Night," "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow," White Christmas" and "O Holy Night" as only the award-winning artist can deliver, with the help of local choirs and children chosen to be part of the production in each city.
"It's been amazing to see many of the local children that have appeared in Kenny's shows over the years grow up to have their own musical careers," show producer Kelly Junkermann said. "We recently learned of another one of our kids being chosen to perform in a new Disney production in Orlando."
"I truly believe Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year," Rogers said. "For the last 27 years, around Thanksgiving, me and my band of Merry Makers head out for what is the most fun concert series of the whole year. It's a chance for us to do Christmas music, new and old, that has special meaning to all of us. It's a great feeling to feel the Christmas spirit in the audience. I promise you, audiences are totally different at Christmas time. So here we come again, and we're coming your way. Come see us and help keep the Christmas spirit alive."
Fans will also have the rare opportunity to see Rogers perform several of his classic hits, such as "The Gambler," "Lady," "Daytime Friends," "Lucille," "Islands In The Stream," "Buy Me A Rose" and "Through The Years."
Rogers, the only artist to chart a record in each of the last six decades with more than 70 hit singles across various music genres, is one of the R.I.A.A.'s top selling male artists of all time with over 120 million records sold. He has received hundreds of awards for both his music and charity work, including three Grammy Awards, 18 American Music Awards, five Country Music Association Awards, eight Academy of Country Music Awards and 11 People's Choice Awards.
