Schedule of Workshops:
Monday, July 5: Voice and Diction
Monday, July 12: Intro to Vocal Music
Monday, July 19: Intro to Scene Study
Monday, July 26: Kamikaze Spolin
Description of Workshops:
Voice and Diction: Are you frustrated because you keep losing your voice during long runs of shows? Are you more comfortable working in film with a microphone than you are in filling a large theatre with your voice? Have you been told more than once, "I can't understand you"? This three hour workshop will introduce you to Kristin Linklater vocal technique, vocal warm-ups that can be used before every audition and performance, and diction exercises that will prepare you to tackle everything from voice-overs to Shakespeare!
Introduction to Vocal Music: Take the fear out of singing! This workshop will introduce students to vocal techniques, warm-up exercises, and proper breathing. A strong voice benefits the actor while speaking lines, performing vigorous blocking, and when singing. Bring a song/music you want to work on, and receive one-on-one coaching from a professional vocal coach!
Introduction to Scene Study: Ready to sink your teeth into character, relationship, and dynamic conflict? Improve the fundamentals of your craft while gaining experience with a partner. This workshop will focus on the actor's emotional life, finding give and take in a scene, and making truthful and organic choices.
Kamikaze Spolin: Spend an evening playing the games and exercises that have inspired actors, directors, improvisers, teachers, and writers. Imagination, creativity, spontaneity, self-expression, and dramatic play are the focus as we explore the teachings of the woman Film Quarterly called "the high priestess of improvisational theatre".
