Two Muses opened its doors in 2011 with the female version of The Odd Couple by Neil Simon, and November 14 through December 7, they will present a heartwarming and moving play by the popular playwright--perfect for the holiday season.

In an age where our phones answer all our questions, and blogs, vlogs, tweets and instagrams tell an entire story, the allure of an actual paperback novel may be becoming a thing of the past. How does an author struggling with a drowning marriage find inspiration to continue writing his next masterpiece? This is the question posed in Jake's Women by Neil Simon. The play follows established author Jake as he calls upon the important women in his life (past, present, living and dead) to shed some light on his current predicament and offer guidance to finish his Magnum Opus and maybe find some happiness along the way.

Produced on Broadway in 1992 with Alan Alda in the title role, Jake's Women has the typical Neil Simon appeal, with lots of heart and laughs, but Boudreau updates the play to the digital age, creating a fresh and resonating version. This production features Robert Hotchkiss (Bloomfield Hills) as Jake, and Two Muses again hits their mission statement in full stride employing a cast of seven of Jake's women: Amy Morrisey (Northville) as his wife, Meredith Deighton (Rochester) as his late wife, real-life mother/daughter team Barbie and Charlotte Weisserman (Farmington Hills) play Jake's sister and his daughter at age 12, Egla Kishta (Royal Oak) plays his daughter at age 21, Margaret Gilkes (Farmington Hills) is Jake's therapist, and Luna Alexander (Ferndale) plays a prospective girlfriend.

Two Muses Theatre is an intimate 130-seat theatre located inside Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 6800 Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield (south of Maple). Performances are November 14 through December 7 on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:00pm. Advance tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for students and senior citizens (62+). Tickets can also be purchased at the door for an additional $2.
