The Chamber Music Society of Detroit will present the Imani Winds on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 3 p.m. in Varner Recital Hall at Oakland University, 371 Varner Drive in Rochester, MI.

This Grammy-nominated wind quintet has carved out a distinct presence in the classical music world with its dynamic playing, culturally poignant programming and adventurous collaborations.

The program, titled Tradition and Innovation, mixes works arranged from the orchestral tradition -Midsummer Night's Dream by Mendelssohn, arranged by Gabler; and Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov, arranged by Russell - with virtuosic quintets including Carl Nielsen's Prelude, Theme and Variations from Quintet for Winds, Op. 43; Paquita d'Rivera's Kites; and Simon Shaheen's cross-cultural work, Dance Mediterranea.

Cost: $30 general; $15 students. Click here to purchase tickets.
