Who Wants Cake? will bring the acclaimed rock musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, to The Ringwald this fall season. Opening on Friday, October 14th, Hedwig and the Angry Inch will play for an exclusive 4 week run at Ferndale's Ringwald Theatre.
This groundbreaking Obie-winning Off-Broadway smash also won multiple awards for its hit film adaptation. It tells the story of "internationally ignored song stylist" Hedwig Schmidt (played by Vince Kelley), an East German rock ‘n' roll goddess who also happens to be the victim of a botched sex-change operation, which has left her with just "an angry inch." This outrageous and unexpectedly hilarious story is dazzlingly performed by Hedwig in the form of a rock gig/stand-up comedy routine backed by the hard-rocking band "The Angry Inch." It's a rocking ride, funny, touching and ultimately inspiring to anyone who has felt life gave them an inch when they deserved a mile.
John Cameron Mitchell developed Hedwig and the Angry Inch with composer/lyricist Stephen Trask. The show opened off-Broadway in 1998 and quickly became a box-office hit. Following the show's smash New York run, Mitchell directed and starred in the film version, which garnered him a Golden Globe nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. The film went on to a sizeable cult following and has since established itself as a genuine pop culture phenomenon.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch opens Friday, October 14th and plays through Monday, November 7th at 8pm on Friday, Saturday and Monday nights with 3pm Sunday matinees.
Ticket prices are $20.00 for Friday and Saturday performances, $15 for Sunday shows, and Monday nights are HALF OFF the original ticket price at only $10 a ticket.
