June is guest entertainment month at The Snug Theatre!
The Snug Theatre is bursting with activity this June with two special guest appearances. GEM Theatrics is back with the romantic comedy 2 Across and later in the month Broadway actor and playwright, James Hindman, will be performing his hilarious, one-man show, What Doesn't Kill You.
GEM Theatrics, the husband and wife duo of Gary E. Mitchell and Mary Beth Quillin, returns to the Snug Theatre for their fifth season with 2 Across: A Comedy of Crosswords and Romance, by Jerry Mayer. Two strangers find themselves alone on a train at 4 a.m.; at that hour, you'd think you could have a quiet ride, just you and your crossword puzzle, duking it out. That's not the way it goes, though, in 2 Across. Janet, a puzzle aficionado with an unmistakable leave-me-alone vibe is catnip to Josh, who instantly begins a conversation. Before crosswords are solved, they find that they may have solved the puzzles of their own lives. 2 Across promises the audience a heart-warming 90-minute ride.
Broadway Actor and playwright, James Hindman returns to The Snug with What Doesn't Kill You. The show, directed by two time Tony Award winner, Christian Borle, is a play about one man's awakening after a near-death experience. The story involves a heart attack, an obsession with Cher and, oh yeah, a trip to a concentration camp. So yes, it's a comedy!
You may have recently seen Hindman in Popcorn Falls on the Snug stage. Some of James's other writing credits include PETE 'N' KEELY (Outer Critics Award nomination) and THE BIKINIS! (Goodspeed Musicals, Long Wharf Theatre) both produced off Broadway. As an actor, you may recognize him from the Broadway cast and tours of: MARY POPPINS, The Scarlet Pimpernel, 1776, City of Angels, A Grand Night for Singing, Once Upon a Mattress, Falsettos, and Dancing at Lughnasa. Television and Film credits include: Upcoming "Oceans 8", "Iron Fist", recurring role on "Public Morals", "Madam Secretary", "Forever", "Believe", "Person of Interest", "Hostages", "House Of Cards", "Unforgettable", "Henry's Crime", "The Sopranos", "Law and Order, SVU, CI", "Rescue Me" and "The Blacklist".
Performances are Thursday - Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $28.00 for reserved seating and are available online at www.riverbanktheatre.com or by phone at 810-278-1749.
