Grosse Pointe Theatre's Youth on Stage Now Enrolling Young Actors Grades 3-8

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (dramatized by Martha B. King) will be the Fall 2009 show for Grosse Pointe Theatre's Youth on Stage. Executive Director EmmaJean Evans is now taking registrations from interested young actors, grades 3 through 8. The registration fee is $150 for 13 class sessions and two performances. Enrollment in Youth on Stage requires that a parent or grandparent be a member of Grosse Pointe Theatre.

The annual membership fee is $30. Grosse Pointe residency is NOT a requirement.

Enrollment is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. Youth on Stage classes fill quickly, so those interested should be registered as soon as possible. The registration deadline is Tuesday, August 25th.

Youth on Stage classes begin on Saturday, September 12th. Classes will meet every Saturday, excluding November 21st, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, 32 Lake Shore Road, Grosse Pointe Farms. A Christmas Carol will be performed in the War Memorial's Fries Auditorium on December 12th and 13th. The play has excellent parts for both boys and girls. Every young actor enrolled in Youth on Stage will perform in the play.

Grosse Pointe Theatre's Youth on Stage has been an annual offering to the community since 2001. The program teaches basic acting and performance techniques. Sessions are taught and directed by seasoned actors and directors from Grosse Pointe Theatre.

The program offers an opportunity for parents and older siblings to participate in the Youth on Stage shows by helping with sets, costumes, props, makeup and back stage crews.
