The swashbuckling adventure! The fabulous fun! The rollicking romance! Everything you want in a musical! Grosse Pointe Theatre will open its historic 70th season with the Gilbert & Sullivan operetta The Pirates of Penzance. The eight performance runs starts on September 17th at the University Liggett School Auditorium, 1045 Cook Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
Set sail with our band of hapless, sentimental buccaneers, bumbling British bobbies, frolicsome Victorian maidens, and the delightful "model of a modern Major-General" for a rollicking romp on the rocky coast of Cornwall. This hilarious, hopeful face follows young Frederic, an orphan mistakenly apprenticed to an ineffectual but raucous band of pirates. Together they invade England's favorite holiday spot with chaotic results. This uproarious comedy boasts the beauty. wit, and whimsy of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic score.
