Go U! The Improv Academy Announces Fall Registration, New Location

Go Comedy! Improv Theater is proud to announce that the fall 2009 semester at Go U! The Improv Academy will include new classes in a new training center location. Registration for fall semester is available by calling (248) 327-0575, and online at www.gocomedy.net. Classes will take place at Go Comedy! Improv Theatre, 261 E. Nine Mile Rd. and the new Go U! Training Center at 243 E Nine Mile Rd in Ferndale, MI 48220.

The Go U! Improv Academy adult classes are broken into three levels: Intro, Intermediate and Advanced. Each class runs for eight weeks beginning Saturday, August 8, 2009 and culminating in a class show for friends and family at Go Comedy! Improv Theater on Tuesday, September 29. Tuition for adult classes is $200. A complete class description and term schedule follows.

After the success of the Go U! Teen classes this summer, The Improv Academy is adding an after school improv program for teens. Classes will run after school Tuesday evenings from 4pm - 6pm and will cover every aspect of improv from the basics to performance. Each term will run 8 weeks and will culminate in a class show. Registration ($150) is open now and runs through September 11 at 5pm. The Go Youth! teen classes will be taught by Go comedy! resident member, Jaime Moyer.

To accomodate additional classes, Go Comedy! is proud to announce that it is opening a new Go U! Traning Center location just steps away from the Go Comedy! Improv Theater. The new center at 243 E. Nine Mile Road provides the additional facilities needed to house multiple classes simultaneously and provide a more flexible schedule for students and teachers, and an exciting step forward in Go Comedy!'s continued success in downtown Ferndale.

Go U! Improv Academy Fall 2009 Class Schedules

Adult Classes

The Improv Academy at Go U! is broken into three levels: Intro, Intermediate and Advanced. Classes run for eight weeks and culminate with a class show for family and friends on Tuesday, September 29.

Intro 101: Welcome to Improv
Every improv education starts somewhere. Learn the fundamentals of improvisation, basic games, scene work and skills. Get used to being on stage and working with others in a safe, supportive environment. Tuition: $200.
Sundays: 12pm - 3pm, taught by Pj Jacokes beginning August 9.
Wednesdays: 7pm -10pm, taught by Suzie Jacokes beginning August 12.

Intro 201: Improv Tools
This class picks up where 101 leaves off, taking those concepts and looking deeper into them. This class looks at the tricks, tips and tools of improv and incorporates them into a variety of games. Tuition: $200.
Sundays 12pm - 3pm, taught by Bryan Lark beginning August 9.

Intro 301: Scene Work
This class continues to build on the skills learned in 101 and 201 with a focus on scene work. Intro 301 begins to move into elements of long-form improvisation. Tuition: $200. Mondays 7pm - 10pm, taught by Chris DiAngelo beginning August 10.

Intermediate 101: Intermediate Scene Work

Shake the cobwebs off your improv or reinvent your approach. Learn the GoU

Improv Philosophy and be free of the "rules" of improv. This class will focus on how

you create a scene, work with a partner and keep an audience interested.
Saturdays 12pm - 3pm, taught by Chris DiAngelo beginning August 8.

Intermediate 201: Games
Games are the bread and butter of every improvisers' diet and can be seen at Go Comedy! every weekend. Learn about improv games from the classics to challenging new ones including those seen in the Go Comedy! All Star Showdown. Tuition: $200.
Saturdays 3pm -6pm, taught by Chris DiAngelo beginning August 9.
