Go Comedy! Improv Academy Still Open For Spring Term Registration

Go Comedy! Improv Theater announces that space is still available for its Spring 2010 term at Go U! The Improv Academy. Classes include Intro to Improv, Advanced Improv, and Sketch Comedy Writing.

Classes will take place at Go Comedy! Improv Theatre, 261 E. Nine Mile Rd. and the Go U! Training Center at 243 E Nine Mile Rd in Ferndale, MI 48220. Go U! INTRO TO IMPROV

Intro 1: Welcome to Improv: Tuition $200

Every improv education starts somewhere - yours starts here. Learn the fundamentals of improvisation, basic games, scene work and skills. Get used to being on stage and working with others in safe, supportive environment. Available class times are:

Thursdays: 7-10pm, begins March 11 taught by Suzie Jacokes

Saturdays: 3-6pm, begins March 13 taught by Suzie Jacokes

IMPROV TOOLS

Intro 2: Improv Tools: Tuition $200

Intro 2 picks up where Intro 1 leaves off, taking the concepts covered and looking deeper into them. This class looks at the tricks, tips and tools of improv and incorporates them into a variety of games. Available class times are:

Tuesdays: 7-10pm, begins March 9 taught by Matt Naas

 

SCENE WORK

Intro 3: Scene Work: Tuition $200

Intro 3 continues to build on the skills learned in Intro 1 & 2. With a focus on scene work, Intro 3 begins to move into elements of long-form improvisation. Available class times are:

Mondays: 7-10pm, begins March 8 taught by Chris DiAngelo

IMPROV GAMES

Intro 4: Improv Games: Tuition $200

Games are the bread and butter of every improviser's diet and can be seen at Go Comedy! every weekend. Learn all about improv games from the classics to challenging new games, you'll even learn a few of Go Comedy!'s signature games. Available class times are:

Wednesdays: 7-10pm, begins March 10 taugh by Pj Jacokes

ADVANCED IMPROV

Advanced Improv requires some previous improv education. Interested students should contact Go Comedy! to determine in which class they should start.

Advance 3: From Stage to Paper: Tuition: $200

Advance 3 will focus on generating material for a written show, by the end of the term students will have the material to put together a one-act improv/sketch revue in Advance 4. Available class times are:

SKETCH COMEDY WRITING

Learn how to write, edit and polish scripts for sketch comedy. This class is taught by some of the finest comedy writers in the area. The first three terms focus on style. With the fourth dedicated to putting together a show from the scripts created in the program.

Sketch 1: Finding Your Voice: Tuition $200

Start getting your words out of your head and onto the page. This class will focus on creativity, brainstorming, and creating your comedic voice. It will help students to start creating a writer's portfolio. Available class times are:

Saturdays 12-3pm, begins March 13 taught by Bryan Lark

Sketch 2: Your Voice vs.The World: Tuition $200

Using just about everything as inspiration,find the funny in anything. This class focuses on different ways to look at the world around you and the different approaches to writing about it. Available class times are:
