Go Comedy! Improv Theater announces that it will host a MARVIN night, Sunday May 31 where all tickets will be "pay what you can," making comedy accessible to employed and unemployed Detroiters forced to use MARVIN, the state's automated unemployment registration system.
Sunday nights kick off at 8pm with Soapbox Derby
, an improvised show featuring local musicians, comedians and community leaders. Each week's guest presents stories, comic routines, or songs which the Go Comedy! cast uses to create on-the-spot scenes. Past Soapbox Derby guests have included Ferndale Mayor Craig Covey, WDET radio host Craig Fahle, and Between The Lines publisher Jan Stevenson.
The comedy continues at 9:00pm with Rock-o-Matic, the fully improvised rock opera. Pj Jacokes (Ferndale), Jaime Moyer (Hamtramck), and Matt Naas (Ferndale) use audience suggestions with the Rock-o-Matic band, Mikey Brown (Ferndale) and Ryan Parmenter (Plymouth), to create a one-time only rock opera. It's Detroit most unique and amazing improvised show.
Sunday nights round off with Elemenopy at 10:00pm featuring the seasoned improv powerhouse duo, Go Comedy! producers Pj Jacokes & Chris Diangelo (both of Ferndale).
