Go Comedy! Heads Into Fall With New Shows And Continued Favorites

As Go Comedy! heads into fall - and it's ninth anniversary, the critically acclaimed improv theatre is adding several shows to its weekly line up, bringing back its popular original sketch show The Skit Parade, adding a new improvised show Best Buds, and reviving one of its original shows, Proving Grounds for September and October. Tickets for all Go Comedy! shows ($5-$18) are available now online at www.gocomedy.net and beginning at 6:00pm Wednesday - Sunday in person at the Go Comedy! box office. A complete Go Comedy! weekly schedule follows this release.

The Skit Parade
Members of the Go Comedy! Resident Company will present a new fully written, completely original sketch comedy revue September 28 & 29, followed by an entirely new show October 26 & 27. The cast, writers and directors for the show change every month. Tickets are $10 on Thursday nights at 8:00pm and $15 on Friday nights at 8:00pm.

Best Buds

Welcome to Best Buds Club, the completely improvised show following the adventures of three groups of best friends.Best Buds Club appears at 8:00pm Wednesday September 27 and Wednesday October 4. Tickets are $10.

Proving Grounds

This fall Go Comedy! is bringing back one of its original shows, Proving Grounds. A showcase for original improvised or scripted material, Proving Grounds will give members of the Go Comedy! Resident Company an opportunity to present new improv forms and written material in front of a live audience. Proving Grounds takes the stage Wednesday nights at 9:00pm September 13 and 27. Tickets are $5.


The Draft

The Draft returns to Go Comedy! this fall. In this short improv tournament improvisers are randomly drafted into three teams, which will compete in a head to head improv battle. The best team wins each week. Wednesdays at 9:00pm. Tickets are $10

Beta Testing

There is a bunker miles beneath the surface of Go Comedy! Improv Theater. Inside that bunker is the the Go Laboratories where Dr. Doug Kolbicz and his crack team of scientists are constantly struggling to develop new methods of Improv comedy. After years of classified experiments, the Go Labs products are finally ready to be tested on human subjects the phase known as Beta Testing. New short-form games will be revealed for the first time!


Character Fondue

Go Comedy brings character work to a whole new level in this fully improvised show. Featuring a melting pot of character performances, mixed in with a dash of improvised monologues, and an entrée of scenes, Character Fondue introduces a world of unique and hilarious characters brought to life. Sometimes cheesy, often meaty, yet always served hot, Character Fondue will surely fill your appetite for characters and comedy.

Date Night
An improvised romantic comedy that follows the unfolding story of a first date. Each night the cast reads an anonymous pair of real life dating ads from craigslist and creates a featured 'couple' inspired by the ads. Will they fall in love or will it fall apart? Date Night follows an opening improv set by a local improv troupe. DuoPalooza Duos have proven to be some of the most memorable and beloved performances of all time. DuoPalooza is a showcase celebration of Metro Detroit's Improv Comedy Duos. Come see an incredible lineup of local Duos and see how each pair has their own unique and awesome chemistry!

Fresh Sauce
Go Comedy!'s open improv jam. Anyone with an interest in improv can play improv games with other improvisers of all experience levels.

The Go Comedy! All Star Showdown
The theater's signature show continues to be The Go Comedy! All Star Showdown which has played on Friday and Saturday nights continually for eight years. Featuring members of Go Comedy!'s resident company, The All Star Showdown puts two teams of improvisers in an improv competition tailored to challenge their abilities, think on their feet and give audiences a roaring good time. The cast also plays for audience members who take home fabulous prizes when their team wins. It's a night of hilarious laughs and great times!

The Go Comedy! Sunday Buffet
Go Comedy! presents its long-form improv launch group, Hot Gold joined by a local opener, and a long-form headliner. For the months of September and October, these guest troupes include:
- September 29: Falcon Stand, Elastic Time Cannon
- October 1: Badass Fairytales, Generation Gap, The Fortin Hour
- October 8: Badass Fairytales, For Real with special guest Ferndale Mayor Dave Coulter - October 15: Dubalicious, Musical The Improv

- October 29: The Brothers Jacokes, Elastic Time Cannon

Let's Just Say

An evening of storytelling from various Detroit artists. True stories, vulnerable storytellers, heartwarming anecdotes, cheap drinks, big laughs. Let's just say it'll be a good time.

Name This Show
Go Comedy! presents a free long-form improv set featuring cast members from Friday & Saturday night's shows to close out the evening. The audience names the show and the cast creates the material on-the-spot starting around 11:45pm Friday and Saturday evenings. Free.

Pandemonia
More improv than you can shake an invisible stick at! 12 comedians vie for laughs, love and points to see who can be the last one standing through a series of comedic scenes, songs, and even party games. Audience suggestions pave the way for a wild night of improv comedy. Not to be missed! Pandemonia features a rotating cast.

Teacher's Lounge
Teachers from Go U! The Improv Academy take the stage for an improvised show featuring a Go U! Student randomly selected from students at the show.

Eight-years of original comedy
In the fall of 2008 the former Ferndale Secretary of State office was transformed into Go Comedy! Improv Theater - a catalyst for hundreds of original shows, a robust improv academy, and an incubator for innovation, inspiration and integrity. Today, Go Comedy! is home for hundreds of improvisers, at least 50 improv troupes, and a weekly schedule of hilarious award-winning programming that has garnered local and national recognition.
