GYPSY Comes to St. Dunstan's Theatre in Bloomfield Hills Image

St. Dunstan's Theatre is opening it's 2018-2019 season with the classic musical, Gypsy, which will run October 5th - 21st.

Called "perhaps the greatest Broadway musical" by the New York Post, Gypsy tells the story of brassy, ambitious powerhouse Mama Rose, who treks across 1920s America seeking success in vaudeville for her daughters Baby June and Louise while secretly yearning for her own. But vaudeville is dying, burlesque is on the rise, and the girls want autonomy. Based loosely on the 1957 memoir of famous striptease artist Gypsy Rose Lee (Louise), Gypsy focuses on Mama Rose, the quintessential "stage mother." The score features some of musical theatre's greatest hits: "Some People," "Let Me Entertain You," and "Everything's Coming Up Roses."

This production is directed by Michael A. Gravame, with music direction from Stan Harr and choreography from Valerie Mould. The creative team includes Sue Checkaway (Assistant Director), Roberta Campion and Jennifer Crouch (Producers), Michael A. Gravame & Janie Minchella (Costumes), Stephen Sussman (Set Design), Michael Campion (Master Carpenter), Adrienne Miikelle (Lighting), Alan Binkow (Sound), and Roberta Campion, Michael Campion, & Jennifer Crouch (Properties).

The cast of Gypsy is led by Carla Margolis (Mama Rose), Erin Johnson (Louise), Marc Meyers (Herbie), Audrey Sharp (Dainty June), Robert Zak Shugart (Tulsa), Kris Held (Tessie), Angelica Labadie (Miss Mazeppa), Andrea Kane (Miss Electra/Miss Cratchit), Lily Tang (Baby June), and Zoe Niemkiewicz (Baby Louise).

The ensemble includes Tony Amato, Ed Berger, Matt Horn, Katie Jostock, Erica Poster, Emily Ivey, Tricia Ostrom, Jaimie Lynn, Katie Jostock, Forrest Gabel, Noah Galle, Jason Kolbusz, Kylie Kwiatkowski, Nathan Ross, and Daniel Upton.

Performance dates are October 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 & 20 at 8pm, and October 7, 14, 20 & 21 at 2pm.
