FAME will preview at the "New" McCree Theatre, 322 E. Hamilton, Flint, May 7 -9, 2009. Regular performances will be held May 14 - May 30, 2009. All performances will be held on Thursday and Friday at 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
FAME is based on the screenplay by Christopher Gore. It was conceived by David De Silva and adapted to the stage by Christopher Sergel. Music is by Leslie Gore, Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford.
"FAME" takes place during the last years of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts on 46th Street (1980-1984), it is the bittersweet, but ultimately inspiring, story of a diverse group of students as they commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work. With candor, humor and insight, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today: issues of prejudice, identity, self-worth, and literacy.substance abuse and perseverance.Thursdays offer two-for-one admission to the theatre, where two will be admitted for the price of one.
