The Purple Rose Theatre Company continues its 2011/12 Season with WHITE BUFFALO, a world premiere by Don Zolidis. Winner of the 2004 Princess Grace Award for Playwriting and a 2011 Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award, the production will enjoy a ten-week engagement from Thursday, March 29 – Saturday, June 2, 2012.
Inspired by true events, White Buffalo tells the story of the miracle birth of a white buffalo calf on a family farm in Wisconsin. When a white buffalo is born on Carol Gelling's small farm, it heralds a Sioux prophecy of peace on earth and unity to mankind. Quickly, The Farm becomes a hotbed of spiritual outpouring -- from Native American pilgrims to the Dalai Lama. The publicity reaches Carol's long-estranged husband whose return further complicates Carol's life. When a mysterious businessman offers to buy the calf, Carol must decide whether the white buffalo signals the end of her financial hardships or the beginning of her personal enrichmenT. White BUFFALO contains some adult language and content.
