Detroit Rep Presents A FACILITY FOR LIVING, 11/7-12/29

Seniors disobey in the Midwest Premiere Comedy of A FACILITY FOR LIVING by Katie Forgette at the Detroit Repertory Theatre opening on Thursday evening, November 07, 2013. This raucous and relevant comedy is sponsored by Quicken Loans and will be the first production of the 57th Season of Michigan's longest running, professional, non-profit Theatre. Set in the not so distant future, the play centers around seniors trying to live a meaningful life in an assisted living facility. Nurse Claudia is a tough love practitioner who runs Federal Nursing Home #273 by the book. Resentment runs high when Joe joins the residents. Joe's acting history coupled with the help of facility aide Kevin, who wants to make 10 second cell phone movies for viewing at red lights, inspires the residents to take over and life at the facility becomes a hilarious camp of rebellion.

Veteran Artist and one of the founders of the Rep, Barbara Busby (DETROIT), will direct A FACILITY FOR LIVING. Ms. Busby has over 50 years of experience of directing and acting. She has assembled a cast of veterans of the Michigan professional theatre community as well as a new face to the Detroit stage.

Casaundra Freeman (DETROIT) returns to the Rep stage as the somewhat sadistic Nurse Claudia. Audiences will remember Ms. Freeman for her award winning portrayal of Hattie in POSTCARDS earlier this year. David Glover (DEARBORN), standup comedian and actor, is Joe. He was last seen on the Rep stage as the dim witted shoemaker in A PARADISE OF FOOLS. Detroit area professional actors Angela G. King (ROCHESTER HILLS), Trudy Mason (DEARBORN) and Cornell Markham (DETROIT) are the residents, and Aaron Kottke (DETROIT) makes his stage debut as the rambunctious Aide Kevin.

A FACILITY FOR LIVING opens the Detroit Repertory Theatre's 57th Season on November 7, 2013 and runs every Thursday through Sunday until December 29, 2013. All tickets, fundraisers and subscriptions remain the most afforable for not for profit professional theatre in the region.
