Planet Ant is set to open its 2013-14 season Friday, September 6 with David Mamet's November. This new Oval Office satire depicts one day in the life of a beleaguered American commander-in-chief. It's November in a Presidential election year, and incumbent Charles Smith's chances for reelection are looking grim. Approval ratings are down, his money's running out, and nuclear war may be imminent. November is a scathingly hilarious take on the state of America today and the lengths to which people will go to win. Featuring Seth Amadei* (Dearborn), Dave Davies (Warren), Andy Huff* (Northville), Dan Jaroslaw (Mt. Clemens) and Vanessa Sawson (Ferndale), November is directed by Kelly Komlen (Dearborn) with assistance from Michael Hovitch (Ferndale), stage managed by Ryan Fisher (Albion). November will play at Planet Ant September 6-28 with performances at 8:00pm Friday and Saturday; 2:00pm Sunday, September 15 & 22; and a special 8:00 pm performance on Tuesday, September 17. Tickets ($10-$20) are on sale now at www.planetant.com or in person, based on availability, 30 minutes prior to show time at the Planet Ant Box Office. Phone reservations are also accepted by calling (313) 365-4948. A complete performance schedule follows.

Late Night Saturdays & Improv Mondays

Throughout this season Planet Ant will present a late night Saturday show featuring a rotating schedule of improvisation. The schedule will include the improv troupe One Quarter Bruce, a variety show starring Dustin Gardner and The Ant Hill, a live storytelling show hosted by Mike McGettigan. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Planet Ant also continues to present Improv Mondays every Monday evening at 8:00 pm. Planet Ant has been home to some of the best improvisers to come out of Metro Detroit. In its thirteen years, the Planet Ant Improv Colony has generated over twenty original comedies and continues to perform every Monday night in Michigan's longest-running improv comedy show - Improv Mondays. During the summer, Improv Mondays features a pre-show party for guests on the theatre's backyard patio (weather permitting). At 8:00 pm the show kicks off with a guest improv troupe followed by a performance by Planet Ant's resident Home Team. The night closes with The Ant Jam, an opportunity for anyone to improvise on the Planet Ant stage. Tickets are $5 at the door.
