Adventure awaits you this October with Stagecrafters Youth Theatre's production of Dorothy in Wonderland, onstage Thursday,
October 25, through Sunday, October 28, at the Baldwin Theatre, 415 South Lafayette in downtown Royal Oak.
Two favorite children's stories collide to bring us Dorothy in Wonderland, the new adventures of our old friends from Oz. Whisked away to Wonderland on a mighty wind, Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion must find a way out of the strange land. Along the way, they befriend Alice and meet some curious characters, including the White Rabbit, the Caterpillar and the evil Queen of Hearts. Can the new friends work together to get back home? A clever story with a heartfelt message, the play is fun for all ages.
Director Debbie Landis-Sigler is excited about the play and the fun of mixing up these two fantasy tales and their quirky inhabitants. "What makes this show interesting is the fact that both stories take place in very off-the-wall and unique places. So to combine the characters all together can only increase the fun!" says Landis-Sigler.
Wonderland is a place you won't soon forget. With its colorful and unusual landscape peopled with favorite characters from children's stories, "the audience can expect to be entertained and amused" by their mashed up, madcap adventures, says Landis-Sigler. Aside from being a lot of fun, the story is at its core about teamwork and lending a helping hand, as the characters try to help Alice and Dorothy find their way home.
As a special treat for our young audiences, the cast (in costumes) will be signing autographs in the lobby immediately after each show of Dorothy in Wonderland. This production is rated G and runs approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.
