Thanks to snowmaking efforts in collaboration with this week's winter storm, Crystal Mountain will celebrate its 60th opening day on Saturday, December 10th.

The Cheers (intermediate), Tuck's (intermediate - no terrain park features yet) and Totem Park (beginner) downhill trails will be open from noon to 4:30pm on Saturday, December 10th and 10am to 4:30pm on Sunday, December 11th. Lift tickets at the window will cost $25 (all ages) with ski and snowboard rental $25. Crews will continue to assess conditions so stay tuned to the Snow Report at crystalmountain.com for updates on the opening of any additional terrain.

The downhill trails will be closed from Monday, December 12th to Thursday, December 15th for snowmaking in an effort to open as much terrain as possible for the resort's 6-for-$60 promotion on Friday, December 16. In recognition of Crystal's 60th Anniversary, a group of six can ski or ride for $60 on this special day - that's just $10 per person.

The current forecast indicates multiple opportunities for around-the-clock snowmaking over the next 7-10 days with temperatures below 28 degrees. Under ideal conditions, with temperatures 15-20 degrees representing the sweet spot, Crystal Mountain's snowmaking system is capable of covering the entire mountain in a foot of snow in 45 hours. If the current forecasted temperatures hold, it will be particularly good news for skiers, snowboarders and ski areas as the holiday break approaches.
