Foss Avenue Baptist Church is inviting the public to attend "A Very Special Winter's Evening of Praise, Laughter, and Fun," Friday, January 22, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Avery Aldridge Family Life Center adjacent to the church.

This semi-formal, supper club-style event is starring nationally renown Christian comedienne, Sister Cantaloupe (Trina Jeffries), and features Flint's own gospel phenomenon, Pastor Seon Thompson, and the gospel duet, Twin Spirits (Jeanine Henderson and Tenisa Keener).

Sister Cantaloupe, a.k.a. Trina Jeffries, is best known for her on-stage costume of cat-eyed glasses, a gray wig, colorful clothes, oversized shoes, a boisterous voice and massive amounts of front-and-back padding, along with her wisecracking humor that fills a vacuum for audiences who according to her " Don't like and don't relate to today's bawdy realm of comedy." Sister Cantaloupe is fast becoming a household name with the release of Gospel comedy CD's, "Laffin Out Loud with the Lord" and "Go Cantaloupe, Go Cantaloupe Go." She has been on tour with Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams and often performs on "The Jenny Jones Show," as well as Bobby Jones' No. 1-rated Gospel show on Black Entertainment Network.

Pastor Seon Thompson is shepherd of one of the fastest growing ministries in his locale, Refuge Temple Church of Flint Michigan. Pastor Thompson's celestial voice range accompanied by his commitment to live the words he sings, has opened the door for him to minister with a plethora of Gospel artist including: Albertina Walker, Karen Clark-Sheard, Kiki Sheard, Kim Burrell, Deitrick Haddon, Bishop Paul Morton, Dr. Bobby Jones, Pastor Beverly Crawford, Dr. Marvin Sapp, Ricky Dillard, John P. Kee, Tyrone Dickerson, Marvin Winans, Rizen, the late Rev. Timothy Wright, Dr. Dorinda Clark Cole and a host of others. The live recording of his current CD, "I'm Out" made history in Flint's prestigious Whiting Auditorium, filling the rafters with over 2,000 patrons.

Foss Avenue Baptist Church is located at 1159 E. Foss Avenue, Flint, MI. Dinner will be served. Donation is $35.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the church office. Call (810) 787-9019 for information.
