In the spirit of giving back to the community during this holiday season, Coca-Cola in association with Fifth Third Bank and Olympia Entertainment is donating 1,000 tickets to distressed families for the Detroit premieres of The 101 Dalmatians Musical starring Rachel York as Cruella De Vil (Nov. 17 -22) and The Little House on the Prairie featuring Melissa Gilbert as ‘Ma' (Dec. 1-5) at the Fox Theatre.
Starting this Thursday, Nov. 12, 250 vouchers for The 101 Dalmatians Musical will be distributed from noon to 5 p.m. at the Fifth Third Bank Southfield branch at 27255 Lahser Road (north of 11 Mile). Bank locations for The Little House on the Prairie Musical vouchers will be announced next week.
"We're all looking for those little bright spots in life---especially if we've been hit hard by this tough economy," said Mike Alter, market development manager, The Coca-Cola Company. "And for those of you who have, Coca-Cola would like to offer you a gift to show our support."
The 101 Dalmatians Musical vouchers are valid for the performances on Tuesday, Nov. 17 and Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The vouchers will be distributed to families experiencing economic hardships. Vouchers will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is a limit of one voucher per family. Each voucher is valid for up to four tickets and is redeemable at the Fox Theatre box office only. The voucher is also valid for a $5 discount on additional tickets purchased.
"On behalf of the employees of Fifth Third Bank, we are proud to participate with Coca Cola in the "Coca-Cola Gives Back" program to spread some joy this holiday season to families that might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend one of these great shows at the Fox Theatre," stated Jack Riley, senior vice president, marketing director, Fifth Third Bank. "Reaching out to the community has become part of the tradition of the Fifth Third Holiday Series at the Fox."
THE 101 DALMATIANS MUSICAL is based on the beloved book by Dodie Smith and led by an award-winning creative team including four-time Tony Award winning director Jerry Zaks (A Bronx Tale, Smokey Joe's Café, Guys and Dolls), acclaimed bookwriter/co-lyricist BT McNicholl (Billy Elliot, Spamalot, The IT Girl), and co-founder of the legendary rock band Styx: Dennis DeYoung. The 101 Dalmatians Musical promises a quirky, upside-down view of the world, where the audience is allowed to see life from a dog's point of view. The stage musical will transport audiences to a slightly topsy-turvy, exciting and altogether fantastic reality that gives grand license for song, dance and spectacle in a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience!
LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, a new musical based on the beloved Laura Ingalls Wilder series of classic American books. Melissa Gilbert, who rose to fame as a child playing ‘Laura' in the hugely successful NBC television series Little House on the Prairie during the 1970's, now continues her legacy ‘on the prairie' by taking on the role of Ma. Little House on the Prairie will also star Steve Blanchard as Pa and Kara Lindsay as Laura.
