Center Stage Jackson has announced a very special production of the musical 1776 at The Cascades. Directed by Denise Weber, this performance will be an outdoor theatre event at a new venue for Center Stage Jackson: The Cascades at 1400 S. Brown St. Jackson, MI 49201.

1776 will be performed live on a stage constructed at the foot of The Cascades, Jackson's famous 500 ft. man-made illuminated waterfall. The set will include a series of panels at the rear of the stage that will allow the audience to see the waterfall through the set, and trusses to accommodate stage lighting. The Cascades is a wheelchair accessible facility with free parking, snack bar, gift shop, museum, and restrooms, owned by the Jackson County Parks and Recreation.

Performances will be held June 10-12 and 17-19, 2016 with each performance starting at 8:00pm. Rain check performances will be held June 24-26, as needed. Weather related refunds are available upon request.

It's the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence...if only our founding fathers can agree to do it! 1776 follows John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Richard Henry Lee as they attempt to convince the members of the second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence. 1776 puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the men behind the national icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming, often petty and ultimately noble figures determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation.

The cast features Daniel Dye as John Adams, Gary Minix as Benjamin Franklin, Brian Weber as Thomas Jefferson, Steven Owsley as Richard Henry Lee, Karen Kidder-Barrett as Abigail Adams, Abbigail Nelson as Martha Jefferson, Thomas Hutt as Edward Rutledge, Matt McDonald as Courier, and more.

Tickets are $12 for students and $15 for adults in advance, $15 for students and $18 for adults at the door. A group rate for groups of ten or more is available at $12 per person in advance, $15 per person at the door. Advance sales end at 5pm on the day of the performance, after which point tickets can only be purchased at the door.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting www.centerstagejackson.org or by calling Center Stage Jackson at (517) 539-4118.

In the event of rain, patrons with paid admissions will be allowed to exchange their ticket for an equivalent ticket to any subsequent performance (space permitting) or, if requested, a full refund will be made.
