The Sauk, Hillsdale County's community theatre, will present ANATOMY OF A MURDER for eight performances October 11-21. The courtroom drama is based on an actual case that took place in the Upper Peninsula presided over by Hillsdale Circuit Court Judge Charles O. Arch, Sr.
Defeated for re-election as District Attorney, Paul Biegler isn't looking forward to becoming a defense attorney, but his first case is sensational: a lieutenant is accused of murdering the bartender who allegedly raped his wife. It's a high-stakes battle of wit and determination as Biegler uses every device to save the officer's neck.
The cast is led by Timothy Brayman as Paul Biegler, Mike Sutton as Parnell McCarthy, Ray Pratt as Lt. Frederic Manion, Shannon Chenn as Laura Manion and Bill Butdorf as Judge Weaver (based on Arch, Sr.). The cast also includes Andy Anderson as Paquette, Jacob Lee as Mitch Lodwick, Jennifer Mackie as Claudia Dancer, Kenny Hong as Grover Gleason, Kathleen Steger as Olivia Pidgeon, Mike Smith as Dr. Homer Raschid, Steve Cobb as Warren Burke, Roene Trevisan as Det. Sgt. Julia Durgo, Ken Washburn as Dr. W. Harcourt Gregory, Linzy Moks as Dr. Melissa Smith, Tracy Brown as Miss Lemon and Olivia Pike as the Jury Foreman. The cast also includes Barbara Babcock, Irene Grimes-Butdorf and Emily Crews.
The production is being directed by Bruce Crews with stage management by Allison Cleveland. The production team also includes Ellen Yoakum (costume design), Trinity Bird (lighting design), Cyndi Balderman (properties) and Erin Couch (assistant stage manager).
All performances take place at the Sauk Theatre, 240 E. Chicago St. in Jonesville.
