Cast Announced For SAUK SHORTS at The Sauk  Image

The Sauk, Hillsdale County's community theatre, will present "Sauk Shorts," an evening of 11 short plays at the Slayton Arboretum in Hillsdale for four performances on July 23, 25 and 26.

"During the Covid-19 crisis, we have been looking for unique and exciting theatrical experiences to share with our community," said Sauk Executive Director Trinity Bird. "We are excited to present this production at a beautiful outdoor venue where we can follow safety protocol and still produce exciting theatre."

This year's "Sauk Shorts" will be presented by a cast of 25 actors directed by eight local directors. The cast will consist of Andy Anderson, Trinity Bird, Isaiah Brown, Meaghan Bryant, Noah Bryant, Erin Brzozowski, Shannon Chen, Allison Cleveland, Savannah Durocher, Noah Honeywell, Summer Housler, Mandee Leigh Howard, John Kasper, Lisa LaFountain, Josh Lightner, Denise McCosh, Estelle McCourry, Kaylee McCoy, Sandi Miller, Andy Myers, Andrea Ortell, Keegan Oxley, Olivia Pike, Brendan Pratt, Tiffany Thatcher and Trevor Wagler. The production stage manager is Joella Hendrickson.

This year's production will include:

- "Coaster" by Scott Mullen, Directed by Mari Nunez

- "The Prize" by Arthur Keyser, Directed by Tami Hindes

- "Ghosts of Resolutions" by Ron Burch, Directed by Angela Forant

- "The DMV One" by Nick Zagone, Directed by Ann Holt

- "Date With Death" by Steven Hayet, Directed by Josh Hall

- "Turbulence" by Tony Targan, Directed by Ron Boyle

- "A Craigslist Play" by Ruben Carbajal, Directed by Ann Holt

- "Stew" by K. Alexa Mavromatis, Directed by Trinity Bird

- "The Shadow of Flies" by G.M. (Bud) Thompson. Directed by Trinity Bird

- "Write Your Name Upon My Heart" by Matthew Weaver. Directed by Trinity Bird

- "At the Wall" by Bonnie Milne Gardner. Directed by Sandi Miller

Performances of "Sauk Shorts" are July 23 and 25 at 8 p.m. A 3 p.m. matinee will be performed on July 25 and 26. There is no performance on July 24. All tickets are $10. The July 23 performance is a pay what you can preview performance. This production is recommended for mature audiences. Tickets can be purchased online now at www.thesauk.org or by calling 517-849-9100.

Audiences are asked to bring their own seating - lawn chairs and/or blankets. Audiences will be asked to wear masks when entering and exiting the performance space. Temperatures may be taken.

"We will be keeping our eyes on the Governor's guidelines for safety during this production," Bird said. "Please watch our website and Facebook page for production updates. We will do everything we can to keep our volunteers and patrons safe. We hope those who can will come out to the show. If you do not feel safe coming out or are sick yourself, please stay home. We will have more theatrical opportunities for you soon."
