CMAP Detroit Announces DFFF 2017 Winners and Upcoming Fall Shows

CMAP's jam packed, 12-show-long, 2017 Detroit Fringe Forward Festival was a huge success! CMPA thanks all 45 of the participating artists, 175+ audience members, volunteers and advisory committee, and the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs in support of their efforts.

The winners are:

  • Jury's Choice Award: Sasha Vulovic, "In The Shadows"
  • Audience Choice Award: Spinning Dot Theatre Teen Apprentice Company, "The Underground Library"
  • Honorable Mention - Best Ensemble: The Cast of "Pearls of Wisdom"
  • Residency Award: Marcela Torres, "No Contest", will receive a free week-long residency at Light Box to work on a project of her choosing.

"Lost Memories"

As the official Jury's Choice award winners from the 2016 DFFF, director Casey Hibbert and playwright Jacquelyn Priskorn, are pleased to present Lost Memories, an evening of three shorts (Squisher's Atonement; Off Center; Good Morning Miriam) about those affected by Alzheimer's. Full cast includes Maggie Gilkes, Mandy Logsdon, Nancy Penvose, & Manning Goldman.

"Woman Vs Internet"
December 7, 8, 15, & 16 all at 8:00PM

Woman Vs Internet explores what it means to be female in online spaces. Inspired by the Gamergate controversy, and using real text from chat rooms and forums, the show follows one woman who travels down the rabbit hole looking for answers only to find it changes her life in absurd, hilarious and painful ways. Written and directed by Paige Vanzo. Full cast includes Mitchell Haba, Alexis Barrera, Ann Macheson, Jeff Priskorn, & Josh Noori.
