Black Nativity: Christmas at a Crossroads is loosely based upon Langston Hughes' classic, Black Nativity. The two plays are similar in that they both, in afro-centric fashion, retell the story of the birth of the Christ child through dance, drama and song. Christmas at a Crossroads, however, addresses how far we have drifted from the tenets of Jesus, the Christ, and allowed commercial interests to obliterate the Season's true meaning.

The play, written by McCree Theatre executive director, Charles H. Winfrey, is filled with music of all genres, including traditional Christmas Carols, rhythm and blues, jazz, and gospel, rendered by a cast of 25. It is directed by Billie Scott Lindo, with music directed by Phillip Young.
