Memphis has been entertaining audiences for over a week at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit and is definitely a show that needs to be experienced! Not convinced? Here are five reasons why you should go see it:

First: The story. It is not just a story of love. It is not just a story of struggle. It is a story of life and a great example of our history. More so, it is a story about music and how it can connect and bring people together no matter where they come from. It is a story that will move you.

Second: The characters! Each one entertains and makes the audience feel for them by the talented actors that portray them. Bryan Fenkart is outstanding as Huey and you cannot help but like from the moment he steps on stage. He is an all around talented actor, singer, and dancer who really makes the audience love Huey and everything about him. Felicia Boswell is a powerhouse from her voice to her stage presence in her portrayal of the character that has the same first name.

Third: The dancing because this cast can move! The entire cast dances throughout most of the show and are just fascinating to watch. They have a great groove during the slow songs and perform amazing moves during the upbeat ones.

Fourth: The costumes are perfect and not many shows can have that said about them. Every one fits into the 1950s and have a perfect flair to make them stand out from any view in the theatre. They will definitely make you want to visit your favorite vintage shop and pick up similar clothes to wear now!

And finally fifth: The music, which is probably the most important reason. You will be tapping your feet and bobbing you head along with the show trying not to get up and dance in aisles during the upbeat songs. Be especially ready for a surprise in act two when Mama, Julie Johnson, steps into the spotlight and amazingly belts out "Change Don't Come Easy." During the slower numbers, the audience was silent and moved by the emotions that fill the theatre when the cast sings them. Just like Huey says in the show, the music will touch your soul, especially when he sings "Memphis Lives in Me," one of the stand out numbers in the production.

Go and experience Memphis before it leaves April 21st at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit. You will not be disappointed! For more information, visit www.broadwayindetroit.com.
