I am a fan of the great composer, Pytor IIyich Tchaikovsky. I learned about him as a child because we share the same May 7 birthday. Do you want to know more about the great composer who wrote such masterpieces as the ballet scores for "The Nutcracker" "Sleeping Beauty" and "Swan Lake" as well as symphonies, concertos and operas?
Join Michigan Philharmonic Conductor, Nan Washburn, as she explores the life and music of this most prolific composer at the Plymouth Library on February 28, 2018 at 7:00 pm. With video, photos and music excerpts Washburn will share the power of Tchaikovsky's music in preparation for the upcoming Michigan Philharmonic's performance of Tchaikovsky's, Symphony No. 4 on Sunday, March 18 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Plymouth.
"Tchaikovsky Spectacular" features Tchaikovsky's monumental Symphony No. 4 in F Minor as well as guest composer, Zhou Tian, as the Michigan Phil performs his moving piece, A Thousand Years of Good Prayers. Also featured on the program is Peggy Glanville Hicks, beautiful Etruscan Piano Concerto performed by Michigan Philharmonic pianist, Patrick Johnson in addition to a side-by-side performance with the Michigan Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
