The Penny Seats are buzzing with anticipation as they prepare to bring the first show of their 2018 season, EDGES, written by Tony-Award and Golden Globe winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hanson, Dogfight, James and the Giant Peach, La La Land, The Greatest Showman), back to the site of its World Premier: The Kerrytown Concert House. Pasek and Paul wrote the show as students at the University of Michigan, and debuted it at the Concert House in 2005. The Penny Seats, who perform outside every summer, use various venues around downtown Ann Arbor all winter long, and are thrilled to partner with the Concert House to re-mount this show at its original home. EDGES opens February 8th, for a rare multi-day run at Kerrytown. Performances are February 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16 at 8:00 p.m., with a 4:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday, February 11. All tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at www.kerrytownconcerthouse.com or at the door. Seating is limited, so get your tickets early! More information can be found at www.pennyseats.org.

EDGES is a one-act, contemporary song cycle, following thriving adults as they ask themselves questions about their everyday life. Logan Balcom, Kasey Donnelly, BrenDan Kelly, Emily Manuell, Kristin McSweeney, and Matt Pecek all bring a sense of truth with them as they journey through genuine hardships and experiences, reminding us what it's like to try and balance on the edge of our lives. Director Laura Sagolla comments, "Now that Pasek and Paul have become known for Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, etc., it's been fun to go back and study their earliest songs. You can definitely hear the beginnings of what they do so well now: they capture real emotions without ever shading into cliché or sentimentality. And I'm so excited to be working with this hard-working, talented group."

Cast member Kristin McSweeney beams about the show, saying, "this opportunity has been a dream come true. We have a Director and a Music Director that have such a wonderful grasp on this show, yet are still so willing to give the actors freedom to tell these stories in their own way, and a cast that continues to take each other's breaths away with their performances. As we delve into the lives of these six people you will experience a rollercoaster of emotions, each one as real and relatable as the last. Pasek and Paul really hit the nail on the head with this one!"

EDGES is the first show of the Penny Seats 2018 season and is suitable for ages 13 and up. Advance tickets recommended. For tickets: www.kerrytownconcerthouse.com.
