On June 5, 2014, Actors' Theatre Grand Rapids completes its 33rd season with the opening of Grey Gardens, the musical. The show will be presented Thursday through Saturday on two consecutive weekends at GRCC Spectrum Theater, 160 Fountain Street NE, Grand Rapids, beginning on June 5, 2014 and closing on June 14, 2014. All performances begin at 8PM. A special talk back discussing the history of the Bouvier family, the focus of the musical, will follow the performance on Friday June 6th.

Synopsis: Equally hilarious and heartbreaking, Grey Gardens is a musical based on the cult classic documentary of the same name, which explores the true story of Big Edie and Little Edie Bouvier Beale - aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

From glamorous beginnings to a penniless, co-dependent existence, Grey Gardens paints an intimate and not unsympathetic portrait of two of the 20th century's most notorious recluses.

The play will be directed by Fred Sebulske, founder of Actors' Theatre. Grey Gardens marks Fred's 60th directed main stage production for Actors' Theatre. Recent directing credits include last season's Looking for Normal and Next to Normal, August: Osage County (Winner: 2012 Grand Award for Best Production of a Play), 2011's Spring Awakening (Winner: 2012 Grand Award for Best Production of a Musical), 2010's Distracted and recently, at Circle Theatre, Hair. Among his many awards and accolades, he is the recipient of 12 Grand Awards for outstanding direction, the Norma Brink Lifetime Achievement Award and the Arts Council Arts Award.
