On Friday, Nov. 3, DPTV and WRCJ will hold their major cultural event of the year - the third annual Detroit Performs LIVE, a celebration of music that features its biggest star ever, American Idol winner and Grammy nominee, Ruben Studdard.

It's the culmination of their ongoing commitment to arts and culture throughout the year:

  • Detroit Performs, the weekly program highlights artists and the local art scene
  • WRCJ's around-the-clock music -- classical days and jazzy nights
  • Masterpiece Theatre, Great Performances and the other great programming for which PBS is famous
  • Michigan Opera Theatre's moving tribute to David DiChiera
  • The Sphinx Organization's national competition for black and Latino string players
  • The DSO's annual New Year's Eve bash, telecast live from Orchestra Hall (this year - the music of Michael Jackson)

Art and culture comprise one of the pillars of what we are all about at DPTV and WRCJ, and the proceeds from Detroit Performs LIVE support the great programming and events that you know and love.

Turn out with hundreds of other music lovers to hear Ruben Studdard and a lineup of Detroit all-stars - Ethan Daniel Davidson, Jill Jack, Tom Butwin, Lady Sunshine and a memorable Motown performance by The Miracles Revue featuring Mark Scott. Once again, the music director is the legendary flutist, Alexander Zonjic, backed by the dynamic Motor City Horns.

It all takes place at The Fillmore Detroit on Friday, Nov. 3, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. You can find information about the show and profiles of these marvelous musicians by visiting here.

There are good seats available at a variety of prices. Get your Detroit Performs LIVE tickets now at dptv.org/DPLtickets.
