Calling artists and performers: Detroit Fringe Forward Festival is now seeking submissions! Continuing the momentum that produced over 20 shows as part of last year's Detroit Fringe, the 2016 Fringe Forward Festival will run from Thursday September 15 through Sunday September 18th, 2016 at CMAP Detroit 2221 Carpenter Ave, Detroit, MI 48212. The festival will continue to explore new works and celebrate connections made through the performing arts.

Submissions are being accepted now through July 6, 2016 and should be submitted online at https://goo.gl/sTcwTM. Fringe Forward is specifically looking for works that foster experimentation, take risks, celebrate our community and inspire others. From these submissions 5-10 works will be curated and another 5-10 chosen for the festival line-up at random through a public lottery. Curated and Lottery selections will be awarded a production budget of $300 each in addition to 40% of door profits. For a small production fee, a "Registered Performance" option will add access to the festival for artists who are not selected through jury or lottery, but still wish to participate. Registered Performances will keep 100% of their door profits. More information about the festival and submissions can be found at https://detroitfringe.wordpress.com/. The lottery winners will be announced at a public celebration and artist meet & greet at CMAP on Friday July 15th from 6-8pm.

In addition, all works chosen for the festival will be offered a professional development session with a local professional mentor currently working in the field. At the end of the festival a "Jury's Choice" award and "Audience Choice" award will be given to two performances, who will each receive a fully staged production spot in CMAP's 2016-17 programming line-up.

Please contact Detroit Fringe Forward at DetroitFringeFestival@gmail.com with any questions. "And all artists should consider yourselves invited to Detroit Fringe Forward's INFO SESSIONS" said Carrie Morris, Director of CMAP Detroit, " Come by to get a hand on your submission, to find collaborators, to run an idea by another set of ears - or to just have some snacks and hang out!" Fringe Forward info sessions will be held on Saturday June 25 from noon-2pm and Wednesday June 29 from 4 - 6PM, both at CMAP, 2221 Carpenter, Detroit.

"We are really excited about the wealth of innovation and creativity on display in Detroit's contemporary artists and we look forward to supporting the array of performances that will make up the 2016 Festival." Said Morris. Join us to see what emerges from this cross-section of boundary-breaking works on Sept 15-18 2016.
