This December, Main Street Players will present their first Spanish language play, "La Pasion segun Antigona Perez" (The Passion According To Antigona Perez) by Luis Rafael Sanchez.
Held captive in the palace of Generalisimo Creon Molina, Antigona Perez is a political prisoner awaiting execution. She stole and buried the irons of two friends who attempted to assassinate Creon, and consents to her sentence by refusing to disclose their location. During her stay in the dungeon, visitors come to test her values, and she's strongly criticized by the press in charge of misrepresenting the truth. Our production brings this classic story of civil disobedience to modern day. Through this story, we see how values are corrupted, how fear can control our decisions, the courage it takes to remain loyal to our beliefs, and the role society plays in distorting the truth. Performances are December 9th - December 11th, and December 16th - December 18th. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. General admission tickets are $20.
